Gift of Learning SocietyDear Friend of Thomas Edison High School,On November 7th nearly 390 friends and supporters of Thomas Edison High School came together for a free, one-hour breakfast. During this event, we heard from many past and present students, teachers and parents. It was so inspiring to actually see the difference we are making in the lives of students and families. The breakfast was a great success and we raised over $240,000 in pledges and gifts for the kids. This generosity speaks well to the impact Thomas Edison High School has made on the life of so many children who would have otherwise fallen through the cracks. Our kids are bright and intelligent. They want to be here, and really want a chance to make something of themselves. With the small classroom size, individual attention and a teaching team that focuses on each child, Thomas Edison students are offered the chance to overcome their learning disabilities. This means they learn the academic skills, social skills and self advocacy necessary to thrive in adulthood. For most of them, this is their only chance. Will you help us help the kids? For the first time in our history as a school there have been families who have been accepted to Thomas Edison, but did not attend because they were unable to afford the tuition. This is why we started the Gift of Learning Society. Click Here to Learn More About the GOLS Society. The people who have joined the Gift of Learning Society have made a five-year pledge of $1,000 or more per year. For the equivalent of $83 a month, you could be significantly helping one of our financial aid students continue their education at Thomas Edison. You could help to remove the pain of uncertainty that so many families struggle with each year. I'm hoping you will help us by becoming a Gift of Learning Society member. Please contact Jennifer Hogan at (503) 297-2336 if you would like to make a donation, or have other ideas you would like to share. Sincerely yours, Patrick Maguire |
