Admissions
Please note: The Admissions Process for the 2008-09 school year is now closed. We are no longer accepting applications for Fall 2008. Here is some preliminary information regarding the 2009-2010 school year. Please contact Linda Johnson at our front desk 503-297-2336 if you have questions regarding admissions for the 2009-2010 school year. Procedures for 2009-10 school year: The admissions process begins with an admissions tour of the school. When a parent, guardian or school district representative calls us, they will be asked to sign up for one of the admissions tours listed below. Admissions tours are designed specifically for parents and district representatives. The admissions/application process will be outlined during the tour and there will be time for questions and answers. Potential students have an opportunity to tour the school at a later date.
Tours are approximately one hour in length and include admissions information, questions and answers, and a tour of the building during school hours. Applications for the 2009-10 school year will be accepted beginning December 1st, 2008. The application packet requires placement information from the student's current Math and English teachers. Placement information is a mandatory part of the application. Usually a teacher doesn’t have this information until the end of the first quarter, so returning the application prior to December 1st is not advised. We will receive applications until 3pm Friday afternoon, February 27, 2009. Preference is not given to early applications (we do not offer early acceptance); however, applicants are encouraged to send their application as early as possible. Once the completed application and $50 application fee arrive in our office, the Admissions Committee reviews the application (Step 1). After review of the application, the Admissions Committee will invite potential students who fit our school's profile for an all-day visit to our school. These visits begin as early as December, 2008, and as late as April, 2009 (Step 2). Both steps must be completed before a student will be considered for acceptance to Thomas Edison High School. The Director of the school will notify the family of the school’s decision (yes/no/waiting list); beginning Monday, April 27, 2009. Financial Aid applications will be available beginning March, 2009. The Financial Aid application deadline is May 1, 2009. Financial aid award calls will be made to parents beginning the week of May 25, 2009. Please note: Applications for admission that are received after February 28, 2009 may not receive full consideration for admittance and financial aid may be limited. Families applying for financial aid after the May 1, 2009 deadline are not eligible to receive financial aid for the 2009-10 school year. We are located on the Jesuit High School Campus on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. Click here for a map. Enter the campus at the signal at 91st. Park in the lot on the right in any available "visitor" or "volunteer" spot. Please do not park in number spaces labeled "STAFF." We are on the southwest corner of the campus. Follow the driveway nearly to the end. Parking on campus can be difficult. Additional parking can be found in the Valley Plaza Shopping Center, directly west of Edison. Please allow 10 minutes to find parking. |
